Privacy Policy

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit Utilitly, we and the analytics and advertising providers described in Section 6 automatically collect usage information: the pages you view, the website or ad that referred you, browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and actions such as signing up or starting a subscription. For subscriptions we record the plan and amount paid; card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and never reach us.

Your Documents

Where your file goes depends on the tool you use.

In-browser tools. Most of our tools, including Merge, Split, Rotate, Reorder Pages, Delete Pages, Sign PDF, Protect PDF, Unlock PDF, the True Text Editor and the image tools, process your file entirely inside your browser. The file is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm in your browser's developer tools.

Tools that use an external processing service. Four tools cannot run in a browser: Compress PDF, PDF to Office, Office to PDF (including the DOCX to PDF and PPTX to PDF pages) and Advanced OCR. With these, your file is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection directly from your browser to a third-party document-processing service, which processes it and returns the result to your browser. The file does not pass through or get stored on our own servers, but using these tools does disclose the document to that service. We do not currently publish verified retention terms for it. If you need the service's identity, location and retention terms, contact us using the details in Section 9 before using these tools with sensitive documents.

• Measuring how well our advertising performs and showing our ads to people likely to be interested in Utilitly.

Service Providers

We use third-party providers for authentication (Clerk), billing (Stripe), analytics (Google Analytics and Vercel), advertising measurement (Google Ads) and document processing for the four tools described in Section 2. Google may also use information it collects through these services under its own terms, described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share the contents of your documents with analytics or advertising providers. Some US state privacy laws treat the advertising measurement described in Section 6 as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out as described there.

Essential Cookies and Storage

Signing in uses cookies set by Clerk, our authentication provider, and sign-up is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. Preferences such as light or dark theme are stored in your browser. If you switch the site language, a cookie remembers your choice and the page text is sent to Google Translate (through GTranslate) to be translated.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Utilitly. It sets cookies that recognize your browser between visits and records the pages you view, how you arrived, device and browser information, approximate location, and events such as signing up or subscribing. We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which measure page visits and loading performance without cookies.

Advertising

We advertise Utilitly on Google, for example in Google Search results. We do not show ads on Utilitly itself. Google Ads uses cookies to tell us when a visit that started from one of our ads leads to a sign-up or subscription, and Google may use information about your visit to show you our ads on its services and partner sites.

Your Choices

• EEA, UK and Switzerland: analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. Google receives only limited signals without cookies, such as the page viewed and browser type, and sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
• Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising cookies and ad personalization for your visits.
• Google's controls: manage ad personalization in My Ad Center, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Your browser: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Signing in requires cookies.
